Susan L. Samson, MD, PhD, FRCPC, FACE is Professor and Chair of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and Consultant at Mayo Clinic Florida in the Departments of Medicine and Neurosurgery and Associate Chair of the Department of Medicine (Faculty Development). Before moving to Mayo, she was a tenured Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and Medical Director of the Baylor St. Luke’s Pituitary Center and Endocrinology Fellowship Program Director. She has been awarded the multiple Endocrinology Fellowship teaching awards, the Fulbright and Jaworski L.L.P. Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching and Evaluation, the Rising Star Award, and Woman of Excellence Award. As an educator, Dr. Samson also has served nationally as a Council member and Secretary/Treasurer of the American Program Directors of Endocrinology and Metabolism (APDEM), taskforce member and co-author of the ACGME Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship Milestones 2.0, and she is the Chair of the Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment Approval Committee for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is past President of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (2024).
Dr. Samson has served as site principal investigator as well as steering chair for clinical trials for patients with growth hormone deficiency, acromegaly and Cushing’s disease. She is a co-author on multiple international consensus documents and guidelines for diagnosis and management of prolactinomas, acromegaly, growth hormone deficiency, and Cushing’s syndrome. Dr. Samson is the co-editor (with Dr. Ioachimescu) of the book Pituitary Disorders Throughout the Lifecycle.
