Marta Araujo-Castro; MD, PhD; is a Consultant Physician in the Pituitary & Adrenal Unit of the Endocrinology & Nutrition Department of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid, Spain. Dra. Araujo-Castro´s clinical focus and research is mainly on adrenal and pituitary gland disorders. She develops her mainly clinical practice in the monographic consultations of adrenal and pituitary pathology of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital, meeting the criteria to be considered a national reference hospital in the care of patients with pituitary and adrenal tumors. Her PhD has focused on personalized medicine through a metabolomics approach in adrenal tumors. She is the corresponding author of the “Practical guide on the initial evaluation, follow-up, and treatment of adrenal incidentalomas Adrenal Diseases Group of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN) and the first author of the “Spanish Guidelines for the management and prevention of acute adrenal insufficiency”. In addition, she is the corresponding author of more than one hundred of publications, most of them focused on adrenal tumors, including nonfunctioning adrenal incidentalomas, autonomous cortisol secretion, Cushing´s syndrome, primary aldosteronism, pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma and pituitary tumors. Dra. Araujo-Castro is the principal investigator of the SPAIN_ALDO register of the SEEN and the PHEO-RISK study, SPAIN-CUSHING and ACRO-SPAIN studies. Furthermore, in the last years she has received several awards related to adrenal disorders. Dra. Araujo-Castro is a member of the SEEN, the European Endocrine Society (ESE), Endocrine Society, Spanish Group of Neuroendocrine Tumors (GETNE), European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumors (ENSAT), SENDIMAD; European Society of Hypertension and of the honorary faculty of the University of Alcalá and a reviewer of indexed international journals. She actively participates in several national and international congress with presentations related to adrenal and pituitary pathology
