Dr Pedro Marques (MD, PhD) is an endocrinologist at CUF Descobertas Hospital, and he is currently the Head of the Pituitary Tumor Unit of this hospital. Pedro Marques is also an assistant professor and researcher at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He is also the vice-president of the Portuguese Endocrine Society. Dr Marques also works as a project manager in the scientific department of the European Society of Endocrinology. After completing his PhD in 2020 at Prof. Korbonits’ lab in London in the topic of pituitary tumor microenvironment, Dr Marques established his lab in Lisbon to further study the microenvironment of pituitary tumors. His main research interests concern pituitary and neuroendocrinology, in particular the pituitary tumor microenvironment and genetics of pituitary tumors. Dr Marques has received various prizes and awards, most notably, he was a recipient of the Endocrine Society's Early Investigator Award 2025 distinguishing his work in the field of pituitary and neuroendocrinology, and in particular, in the microenvironment of pituitary tumors.
