Onno Meijer is a professor of Neuroendocrinology of Corticosteroids at Leiden University Medical Center.
He received his PhD at Leiden University in 1996, with Ron de Kloet, working on corticosterone regulation of serotonin receptors in the hippocampus. In1997-1998 he did a postdoc at UCSF with Mary Dallman and David Pearce, expanding on transcriptional effects of GR and MR. Back in Leiden he became assistant professsor with Ron de Kloet at Leiden University, and moved to Leiden University Medical Center in 2012 to start is own group. In his reserach he tries to understand how glucorticoids keep us healthy, how they can cause of aggrevate disease, and whether glucocorticoid signaling can form the basis for therapies across a broad range of disease areas
