Puneet S. Arora MD, MS, FACE, currently serves as VP, Head of Obesity, Endocrinology, and Specialty at AbbVie. He received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, and endocrinology training at the New York University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in advanced diabetes and a master’s degree in clinical research from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He was a consultant endocrinologist with the Health Partners Medical Group in Minneapolis-St. Paul, and served as Assistant Professor and faculty clinical scholar at the University of Minnesota from 2003 to 2008. In late 2008, he was appointed as Clinical Research Medical Director in the Bone therapeutic area at Amgen, and in 2011, as Senior Medical Director for Genentech Research and Early Development as part of the inflammation, cardiovascular, and metabolism group. Subsequently he served as Head of Clinical Development at Principia, and Chief Medical Officer of Lassen Therapeutics and Skye Bioscience. He founded Amira Advisors to provide clinical development, regulatory and strategy advice to investors, biotech, and pharma. He is an advisor to the SPARK program at Stanford University. Dr. Arora currently chairs the Entrepreneurship SIG and is a member of the Special Programs Committee. He has previously served on the Endocrine Society Minority Affairs Committee, the Diversity Task Force, and the Hormone Health Network Committee, been a faculty mentor for the FLARE and ExCEL programs, and an abstract and award reviewer for the Endocrine Society annual meeting.
