Sophia Kaska, Ph.D., is the Manager of Science Policy and Research Affairs at Endocrine Society where she works to advance the Endocrine Society’s science policy priorities, advocates for increased funding for biomedical research, and supports the Society’s Research Affairs Core Committee. Prior to joining the Society, she worked at Research!America, a medical research and public health coalition, where she coordinated efforts for scientific society CEOs and their senior staff to gather and exchange timely science policy information and managed a program where she supported science policy and public engagement initiatives of STEM graduate students and postdocs. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) as an Early Career Representative. Dr. Kaska earned a dual major PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology and Environmental Toxicology at Michigan State University and completed postdoctoral research in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Kansas and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Kentucky. Her research background encompasses opioid addiction, depression, and opioid drug discovery.
