Tala Abu Samaan, MD is an Internal Medicine resident at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar in 2024, graduating with Academic Distinction and Honors in Research. Her academic interests span endocrinology, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and translational medicine, with a particular focus on bridging scientific innovation and clinical care.
Dr. Abu Samaan has been actively involved in research since the beginning of her medical training. Her work has ranged from systematic reviews and clinical case reports to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. She has authored peer-reviewed publications in journals including Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, Biomolecules, and the Journal of the Endocrine Society. Her ongoing projects include the development of three-dimensional vascular grafts from endothelial progenitor cells to model diabetic vasculopathy and serve as in vitro drug-testing platforms, as well as clinical endocrine research involving hypercortisolism and rare adrenal disorders.
She has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences, including the Endocrine Society Annual Meeting, TERMIS World Congress, and the Nature Conference on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. Her scholarly contributions have been recognized through multiple awards, including First Place for Oral Presentations at the Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar Student Research Forum, Excellence in Areas of Concentration Research, and Second Place Nationally in the Qatar National Research Fund Undergraduate Research Experience Program Competition.
Beyond research, Dr. Abu Samaan is passionate about medical education and mentorship. She has served as a peer tutor, mentor, curriculum committee member, and resident educator, and recently developed the Tufts Medical Center Rapid Response Guide for Internal Medicine Residents. She aspires to pursue a career in academic endocrinology, combining clinical excellence, education, mentorship, and scholarly inquiry to advance patient care and trainee development.
