Erik Imel, M.S., M.D. is the J. O. Ritchey Professor of Medicine and Professor of Pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. As both an Adult Endocrinologist and Pediatric Endocrinologist, his clinical focus is the treatment of bone and mineral metabolism disorders across the lifespan including osteoporosis and rare genetic bone diseases. Dr. Imel is a clinical trialist and is the principal investigator for several past and ongoing clinical trials for bone disorders affecting children and adults, including rare bone diseases, such as osteogenesis imperfect and X-linked hypophosphatemia. Dr. Imel is also an Affiliate Scientist of the Regenstrief Institute’s Center for Biomedical Informatics. As part of the Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health-Clinical Research Cores, he directs the Musculoskeletal Informatics Methodology Core, focused on conducting health informatics studies of musculoskeletal outcomes.
