Dr. Ahmed graduated from Punjab University in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1988. He subsequently moved to the United Kingdom, where he obtained his MRCP, before relocating to the United States. He completed his internship at SUNY Buffalo, followed by a residency at the University of Connecticut and a chief residency at Brown University. Dr. Ahmed also completed two endocrine fellowships at Duke University and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, as well as an investigator preparatory fellowship.
In 2002, Dr. Ahmed joined the endocrine department at Thomas Jefferson University, where he currently serves as Program Director for the fellowship program and as a Professor of Medicine. He has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a recognized national and international speaker on diabetes, thyroid disorders, and osteoporosis. His current work includes conducting multiple clinical trials in the field of diabetes.
