Full Professor in the Clinical Medicine Department, Endocrinology and Metabolism Division, Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo (FMUSP). Principal Investigator at the Hormones and Molecular Genetics Laboratory LIM/42 and LIM/25 of the Hospital das Clínicas, FMUSP. CNPq Research Productivity Fellow - level 1A, and Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (since 2017). Background: Graduated in Medicine from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santos, Lusíada Foundation (1987), Resident Physician in the Department of Internal Medicine/Endocrinology at the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP (1988-1991), specialist in Endocrinology and Metabolism (1991) and in Pediatric Endocrinology (2001), PhD in Endocrinology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (1995), having completed a sandwich doctorate at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, United States (1994-1995). Completed postdoctoral studies at FMUSP with FAPESP support (1996-1997), Habilitation (Livre-Docência) from FMUSP (2001). Winner of the Richard E. Weitzman Memorial Award (2003) and the International Award of Excellence in Endocrinology (2019), both granted by Endocrine Society. Recipient of the ESPE International Research Award (2024) from the ESPE. Senior Researcher Award (2019) at the Paulista Congress of Endocrinology and Metabolism (COPEM). Author of 234 full articles published in international (PubMed 2026) and national journals, notably four publications in The New England Journal of Medicine and four recent publications in Lancet Diabetes Endocrinology. Main research areas: clinical and molecular aspects of central and peripheral precocious puberty, congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, and adrenal gland tumors.
