Jaime Almandoz, MD, MBA, DABOM, FTOS
Dr. Jaime Almandoz is a Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of the Weight Wellness Obesity Medicine Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He graduated in medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed residency training in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic. He also completed fellowship training in Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is board certified in Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, and Obesity Medicine. Dr. Almandoz serves as the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and was named The Obesity Society’s Clinician of the Year in 2025. He also serves as Chair of the Obesity and Nutrition Disease State Network for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. His clinical and academic work focuses on comprehensive, patient centered obesity care, with an emphasis on integrating nutrition and lifestyle strategies, advancing health equity, and improving long term outcomes following bariatric surgery.
