Joy Wu, MD, PhD is the Gerald M. Reaven, MD Professor of Endocrinology, Division Chief of Endocrinology, and Vice Chair of Basic Science in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Wu is a board-certified endocrinologist who specializes in metabolic bone disease, osteoporosis, and bone health in cancer patients. She earned her MD and PhD degrees at Duke University, followed by Internal Medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Endocrinology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Wu directs a basic and translational research program that focuses on stem cell therapies for bone, osteoblast support of hematopoiesis, and breast cancer bone metastases. She is the recipient of the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, the Stanford University Faculty Women’s Forum Allyship Award, and the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research Stephen M. Krane Esteemed Award. Dr. Wu has been a member of the Endocrine Society for over 20 years. She has been a member of or liaison to the Membership Committee, Leadership Development Task Force, Publications Core Committee, Advocacy and Public Outreach Core Committee, and Health Disparities Scientific Statement Update Writing Group. She served on the Board of Directors (Basic Scientist seat) from 2019-2022 and is a founding member of the Bone and Mineral Special Interest Group Steering Group.
