Elizabeth (Lizzy) McAninch, MD, is a Clinical Professor in Endocrinology at Stanford University Medicine Center. She has a BA with Highest Honors in Mathematics from Smith College and earned her MD at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She also completed her internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at the University of Miami. In her early career, her research focused on thyroid hormone metabolism and action with translational applications aiming to preserve thyroid hormone homeostasis in patients with hypothyroidism. At Stanford, her clinical practice focuses on functional and structural thyroidology, as well as management of other endocrine neoplasia. She collaborates within the multidisciplinary Stanford Endocrine Neoplasia Program to help patients navigate these complex diagnoses. She has ongoing research interests in the fields of endocrinology, metabolism and aging.
