Dr. Cintia E. Citterio is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical & Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Chapman University School of Pharmacy. She earned her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biochemistry from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, graduating with an Outstanding distinction. She was later awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue postdoctoral studies at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Citterio’s research focuses on the molecular basis of hereditary disorders affecting the thyroid gland, thyroid hormone biosynthesis, and the systemic impact of thyroid hormone imbalances, which affect over 10% of the global population. Her work aims to advance understanding of thyroid disease mechanisms to improve diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Citterio’s research is currently funded by two grants from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, including a sole-PI R01 award. She has received recognition for her research, including the 2024 Early Investigator Award from the Endocrine Society and a 2024 New Investigator Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
