Isabella Sharifi, BS, is an incoming third-year medical student at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. She earned bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry, Nutrition, and Economics, which fostered her interest in the molecular mechanisms of disease. These interests developed into a strong passion for endocrinology, particularly the role of nutrition and metabolism in women’s endocrine health. In the summer of 2025, she completed the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) Summer Research Program at Stanford University in the Department of Endocrinology under the mentorship of Dr. Sun H. Kim. Her research has focused on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), obesity, and insulin resistance. She serves as President of the Endocrinology Interest Group at the University of Miami and is actively involved in clinical endocrinology research. Isabella is passionate about advancing the understanding and treatment of endocrine disorders in women and hopes to pursue a career as a physician-scientist focused on the intersection of nutrition, metabolism, and reproductive health.
